SF restaurant Capp's Corner closing after 50 years
After 50 years in North Beach, San Francisco restaurant Capp's Corner is closing its doors.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- It will be the last, last call at Capp's Corner in San Francisco on Sunday night.

ABC7 News was at the North Beach restaurant on Saturday night as the restaurant prepared to close after more than 50 years.

The current owners have run the Powell Street eatery for the last 30. They say a contractual snag with their landlord, involving insurance liability, has forced them to close their doors.

But instead of feeling sad, they want to celebrate one last time with longtime customers.

"So that's the hardest thing," said co-owner Tom Ginella. "That's the hard part -- saying goodbye to everybody. And uh, maybe not seeing them again."

Co-owner Maureen Ginella added, "There's memories bouncing off the walls in there and it's huge and it's immense."

The owners plan to retire to Hawaii after Sunday night's farewell feast.

Tom and Maureen Ginella, co-owners of Capp's Corner restaurant in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood, are seen on Saturday, April 18, 2015.
