SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A San Jose firefighter was injured at the scene of a three-alarm fire at an apartment building near San Jose City College this afternoon, a fire dispatcher said.

The condition of the firefighter was not immediately available, the dispatcher said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 2:03 p.m. to the fire in the 700 block of Concord Avenue at Moorpark Avenue, just south of Interstate Highway 280, San Jose fire Capt. Cleo Doss said.

Fire crews ordered residents of the building to evacuate, Doss said.

Power lines were down for some reason at the scene, preventing firefighters from entering the building. Crews were outside in a defensive position using water to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures, Doss said.
