Congressman to tour Mineta San Jose Airport after security breach

MINETA SAN JOSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The airport breach was the fourth in the U.S. in the past five years. That's the motivation of an East Bay congressman to come here today to find out how it was all possible.

Democrat Eric Swalwell is a member of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee. He will be taking a tour of the airport's perimeter and get a briefing by airport officials on security measures in light of the breach on April 20.

Three weeks before the security breach at Mineta, the TSA conducted a nearly three-month review of the airport.

The 15-year-old from Santa Clara survived the 5-and-a-half hour flight from San Jose to Maui after hopping an airport fence and climbing into the wheel well of a Hawaiian Airlines jet.

Hawaii officials say his dad has arrived in Honolulu, but wouldn't give any other details. As for the airport, a spokeswoman says it is in compliance with all federal regulations and standards.
