'Birdman' takes home Oscar for Best Picture
In a battle of B-movies for best picture, the Oscars awarded "Birdman" best picture, opting for a movie that epitomizes Hollywood.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KGO) -- There were no big surprises during Hollywood's biggest night with a new host, but there were many great and touching moments.[br /][br /]All the predictions proved to be true, with "Birdman" being the big winner and "American Sniper," which broke box office records shut out.[br /][br /][url HREF="http://abc7news.com/entertainment/photos-abc7-news-at-the-87th-oscars/527555/" TARGET="_" REL=""][b]PHOTOS: ABC7 News at the Oscars![/b][/url][br /][post ID="527555" /][br /][br /]From epic to elegant, from red hot to red leather gloves, Hollywood's biggest stars dazzled on the red carpet.[br /][br /]"Fifty Shades of Grey" actress Dakota Johnson walked the red carpet with her mom, Melanie Griffith. It seemed like a sweet moment until an awkward exchange took place during ABC's "Live from the Red Carpet" show.[br /][br /]"She's a really good actress. I don't need to see that to know how good she is," Griffith said.[br /][br /]"All right! You don't have to see it! And equal rights for women in the United States of America," she said.[br /][br /]Julianne Moore won best actress for "Still Alice."[br /][br /]For the men, J.K. Simmons took home an Oscar for best supporting actor for his role in "Whiplash."[br /][br /]And the best actor winner was Eddie Redmayne for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in the "Theory of Everything."
